She's Two!

Well, she's not quite 2 yet (her birthday is Friday) but that's the explanation everyone gives as to why my monster has turned into a beast. Personally, I think age should be just a number, not an attitude, but I guess I'm wrong. Then again, if age determines attitude do I explain my husband being a pain in the ______ by saying, that's just how boys are at 30? But that doesn't work because my dad is 50 something and he's still a pain in the ________ (so either my dad is very immature, or somewhere in the husband manual is a section on how to be royal pains in the ______). It seems like just a couple of weeks ago a switch went off inside Jordyn that said, "I'm almost 2, therefore I must unleash my inner beast", and unleash it she did. At the time I was fortunate enough to be at my moms so Jordyn wanted nothing to do with me, she wanted Grandma, Aunt Heather, or Aunt Karen, so I didn't have to deal with the beast all too much. I did notice a few signs of it, like when she continually (several times a day) would dump all the dirt from Grandma's flower pots on to the balcony or when she said things like, "MOMMY, LET ME HAVE IT" (it being whatever she wanted that I didn't think she needed) or "MINE" or when she'd throw a tantrum when she didn't get what she wanted (something she's NEVER done before). Now that we're home and it's just the two of us for most of the day I notice the tantrums and the whining all that much more and I'm about to decided that one of us has to go, and I'm not leaving. Unfortunately, you can't send kids on a plane by themselves until they're 5 or she'd be headed back to Grandmas. On the other hand, she is still the cutest little girl I've ever seen, she helps clean up (most of the time), and she's a little comedian she loves to make her funny face and say things like "what's up hommie" or "I need to push a nugget out." She LOVES Cinderella, Popsicles, cold hot dogs, milk, Care Bears and her yellow crocks. She enjoys singing and dancing; her favorite song for the past couple of months has been "Happy Birthday to You." So I guess we'll keep her for a little while and try to tame this wild beast of ours, in the mean time, Happy Birthday TweedleDee!

We're Back!

We are finally back from our extended stay in Utah, and somewhat rested. We had a fun and busy schedule while we were there. We went to the cabin (where we went fishing, and four wheeling, and for walks to see the turkeys), we went hiking and swimming, we chased lizards and hunted for snakes, Jordyn played with cousins and had her first sleepover (Erik & I went to Vegas and left her with Aunt Heather for the night), and celebrated several birthdays, but the main reason we traveled to Utah (and then to Colorado and then back to Utah again) was to see Uncle Colt and Aunt Karen get married! Slowly, over the course of the next month (or more) I'll hopefully be able to catch up on all that has happened over the last several weeks. Until then. .

P.S. This is how most of the wedding shots I got look, Colt, Karen & Jordyn or Karen & Jordyn. Right now, Erik & I are wishing we would have left Jordyn with them, she's not adjusting to being home very well.
