Sun, Sand, Surf and Seashells

While in San Diego, we spent many hours playing on the beach and in the waves. In the mornings, we would walk along the shore and look for sea shells. We found several neat ones, and I even had a few survive the trip home (YEAH!).

Along with sea shells, the beach was covered in sea weed. That stuff was everywhere. If you weren't carefull you could get pretty tangled in it while wading in the water. Jordyn even tried to eat it at one point, at that point I got the hint and took her back to the condo for some breakfast. Jordyn wasn't too fond of the waves, but she LOVED playing in the sand. I believe one of the reasons Jordyn didn't like the waves was because the first time we were down on the beach, she was playing in the sand with her cousins (Sage & Shaylee) when a wave came up from behind her and got her a little wet (that and the water was a little on the chilly side). After that, whenever we would take her down to the water she would quickly turn around and walk back up to our stuff. Jordyn would sit by our towels and dig in the sand and talk to her toys like she didn't have a care in the world. At one point, she started diving in the sand and waving her arms back and forth like she was trying to make a sand angel. She played so much she tired herself out and passed out right there on the beach. All we had to cover her up was a damp, sandy towel and she didn't seem to mind. The rest of us, however, enjoyed the waves. We tried surfing, skim boarding and body boarding. We all came home a little sandy (okay, a LOT sandy) and a little sun-kissed, but all in all, we enjoyed our time at the beach.

  1. I love these pictures of Jordyn at the beach. It reminds me of growing up in CA. We went to the beach all the time and would play and play until we passed out under the umbrella. Looks like you guys had a great time!

  2. Oh, there is truly nothing better than a trip to the beach! It is the best thing in the world. It looks like you had a great time. I can't believe what a little 'toddler' Jordyn has become, especially considering she is only 10 days older than Sam. And he's only been crawling for like a month! :) Love these pictures, they're great!
