Last week for FHE, we took Jordyn to see the Houston Temple. She has a picture of the temple in her room and occasionally we would sing "I love to see the temple" as a bedtime song. That, coupled with what Pres. Monson said in General Conference about taking children and letting them touch the temple and feel it's sacredness motivated us to take Jordyn to see the temple. While there, Jordyn loved splashing her hand in the fountain and climbing up and down the stairs.
We walked around the temple grounds and found a nice bench to sit on and talk to Jordyn about the temple. Mainly, we told her that Mommy & Daddy were married in the temple and sang her the song "I love to see the temple".

It amazes me how these simple things sink in and strengthen her tiny testimony and how she connects them with things she's previously learned.
Her favorite bedtime song is now "I love to see the temple" and as we were driving downtown the other day, she saw the steeple of Catholic church and started saying "temple, temple". We told her it was kind of like a temple, it was a church. As soon as she heard the word church, she yelled out, "NURSERY!!" Yes, she LOVES nursery. Every Sunday we struggle through sacrament meeting because she wants the prayer to be said so she can go to nursery.
What a great FHE idea! I swear Jordyn and Shelby are spirit sisters. Their personalities are so similar. Shelby gets so mad if/when she is walking through the halls during Sacrament and hears the Spanish ward in the nursery.
ReplyDeletePeyton loves nursery too. He hates Sacrament meeting though. It is very rare that we make it through an entire meeting without having to go out into the halls because he has a melt down. Once he gets to nursery though, he's happy again!
ReplyDeleteI like your shirt in these pictures- it's a good color on you!
And I love the Houston temple- so pretty. Our temple here is a little different on the outside but it's still nice to visit.
